Throne of the Last Witness

"Even at the end, he sat upright, because the ones who came before him never had the chance to."
- Nat Berhe

An elderly, white-bearded figure in a blue robe sits enthroned in the lower half of a near-total blackness, illuminated by a golden aura, flanked by red blood-like streaks on either side. Above him, partially obscured in shadow, a second darker figure with a red focal point looms, an ancestor, a specter, a god watching from above. The painting is an act of reverence: the last witness to history positioned as royalty, the weight of generations made visible in his stillness and his light.
