A red masked figure in a black suit, white shirt, and thin black tie stands against a field of bright institutional yellow, one eye a flat black almond, the other a wide gold ringed circle staring straight out. A wide magenta band cuts horizontally across the canvas, severing the figure at the waist and dragging the red down into a slow drip that bleeds off the bottom edge. The painting is about the cost of getting into the room, the toll paid at every threshold, and the mask that forms over a face that has learned to keep paying it.
