Spanning ten feet across two joined canvases, Mirage is a pure atmospheric event: swirling mist, smoke, and color in grey, teal, and mauve dissolve into explosive bursts of red, orange, and yellow at the center seam, as if two worlds are colliding or one world is splitting in two. Flame-like forms ignite along the lower register, pulling upward into haze. This is Berhe at his most elemental, a painting that breathes, that moves, that refuses to resolve.
