"He was born into a war he didn't start. He carries the gun because no one gave him a choice."
- Nat Berhe
Against a vast blood-red field, a young Black child stares directly outward, an assault rifle slung across his small shoulder. Behind him, half-emerging, is an armored warrior figure draped in gold and ceremony. The lower canvas dissolves into smeared black and white and crimson, the residue of something catastrophic. Berhe refuses to look away from the violence that age and innocence must navigate together.
