"The arena is wherever they make you prove you belong."
- Nat Berhe
An epic diptych spanning 120" x 72": a lone warrior figure kneels at center in a wide-brimmed hat, gripping a white spear aloft against a field of total crimson, the background alive with frantic black marks, scrawled cursive, gold flame-strokes, and wild gestural energy that reads like both crowd noise and chaos. The composition is simultaneously ancient and contemporary, invoking the gladiatorial arena, the athletic field, and every space where a Black man has been asked to perform his worth. This is Berhe's largest and most confrontational statement.
